Why Following Up with Your Website Prospects is Critical for Your Business Success

Linda EspinosaClient Acquisition

As a website designer, you might wonder why you’re not getting enough clients…

Despite offering the best website designs and services…

The answer is simple…

You’re not following up with your prospects…

You might have heard of things like…

“It’s all about the follow up.”

“Following up is key.”

“Follow up until they say no or yes.”

That’s great, although I’ve heard those as well. It didn’t make a difference…

I still wasn’t following up 🤦‍♂️…

Or if I was following up, it wasn’t working…

So I had to dig to the roots of the issue…

And a great question that helped me overcome this was…

What limiting beliefs do I have about following up…

Here are the ones I listed and how to overcome them…

“If they were interested, they would have contacted me already.”

This belief assumes that prospects will always take the initiative to reach out first…

However, it’s possible that they got distracted or simply forgot….

How many times have you forgotten to text someone back?

Even the people you care for the most?

We are all guilty of it!

The truth is following up shows that you’re still interested in working with them and can help keep you top of mind.

“I don’t want to bother them.”

Oh boy! This belief assumes that following up is an inconvenience to the prospect.

However, following up can be helpful to the prospect if done correctly.

Think of the last time you didn’t miss your doctor’s appointment because of a simple appointment follow-up reminder…

It happened to me this week…

If my Chiro didn’t remind me of my appointment, my back would still be hurting…

The truth is, following up can show that you’re committed to their success and well-being.

“They probably went with someone else.”

This belief assumes that once a prospect goes silent, they’ve moved on to a different provider…

However, they may be still considering their options or have simply been busy…

Keep in mind busy people are great clients…

That can show they are making money and playing the game of entrepreneurship…

Following up can help you stand out and remind them why they were interested in working with you in the first place.

I’ve heard this many times “Alex, I love the follow-up and persistence.”

“Following up makes me look desperate.”

NO.

NOT having money makes you desperate. It has nothing to do with following up… (Sorry if this sounded harsh, but is true)

Follow up, and you won’t deal with money issues.

This belief assumes that following up is a sign of weakness…

However, following up shows you’re proactive, organized, and committed to your work…

It demonstrates that you’re willing to put in the effort to build a relationship with the prospect and can help establish trust and credibility.

The bottom line is FOLLOW UP!

You are doing a disservice to your potential customers by not doing it.
